The Ultimate Polar Plunge is a three-day adventure in Churchill, Manitoba, from June 30 to July 2; hosted by The Manitoba Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) to raise funds and awareness for Special Olympics Manitoba. All funds raised go towards programming for the 1,600+ athletes province-wide. Although LETR Manitoba hosts various Polar Plunges across the province on an annual basis, this is the first year for the Ultimate Polar Plunge. That means participants take ‘the plunge’ in the same waters the event gets its name from in the Polar Bear Capital of the World - the Hudson Bay!
The three-day schedule has participants go on a Journey to Churchill at the Assiniboine Park Zoo June 30, and enjoy dinner at the Tundra Grill as a preamble for the event. July 1 participants take the two-hour flight to Churchill, and on Canada Day, they will plunge into the frigid waters of the Hudson Bay. Weather dependent, there may even be icebergs still on the Bay - brrr. On July 2, the participants will have an Arctic Crawlers™ experience, with a chance to see polar bears, beluga whales, birds, seals, Arctic hare, Arctic foxes, and more, before heading back to Winnipeg.
Registration for the Ultimate Polar Plunge closes May 31. To find out more information, click here.
Tomorrow we will find out who at Payworks can ‘bear’ the ultimate challenge! Follow @PayworksInc on Twitter - we will be live tweeting the draw at 3 p.m. May 20.
