Before announcing the national partnership, Payworks staff were already supporting RMHC initiatives such as McHappy Day®, and have continued to do so year-after-year. On McHappy Day, $1 from every Big Mac®, Happy Meal®, and hot McCafe® beverage is donated to RMHC and other local children’s charities. The Payworks team annually volunteers at local McDonald’s restaurant locations in Winnipeg, Maple Ridge, Toronto, Edmonton and Calgary on McHappy Day. “I had an absolutely amazing time volunteering for McHappy Day. The hype within the restaurant gave me the chills, it truly affirmed we were working for a great cause,” said Arlee Snitowski, Client Service Manager at Payworks. “The employees did an awesome job training and making us feel very appreciated. All around it was a great experience and I would do it again in a heartbeat!”
But, McHappy Day is not the only initiative in which Payworks supports RMHC. Payworks has supported RMHC by donating payroll services to a number of RMHC Chapters; sponsoring and participating in Ronald McDonald House golf tournaments; and making an annual contribution to the charity in lieu of sending out holiday cards or gifts to Payworks’ clients, partners, or suppliers.
In addition, in 2015 Payworks participated in the Adopt a Room program with Ronald McDonald House British Columbia by adopting the “Salmon River” room in River House.
Payworks has also participated in the Ronald McDonald House Manitoba Home for Dinner program and the Ronald McDonald House Charities British Columbia Family Meal Program. Through these programs, a group of volunteers prepare a home-cooked meal for families staying at local Ronald McDonald Houses. Payworks employees have participated in three of these programs to-date, both in Winnipeg and in Maple Ridge, BC. Click here to see more information on the Home for Dinner from October 2015, and November 2015. Or here to see the blog post on the Family Meal Program from October 2015.
Most recently, more than 10 Payworks employees in Winnipeg volunteered at the RMHC Manitoba chapter. The house received a donation of new mattresses and box springs for both of their core programs, the House and the Family Room – a total of 17 bedrooms. Payworks employees rolled up their sleeves and put the new box spring and mattresses in place as well as putting on fresh sheets.
The Payworks philosophy is to pay it forward, which we plan to continue in 2016 and beyond! You can keep up-to-date with the Payworks and RMHC partnership by following our social channels, including our blog, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn pages.
